The company’s business requires continuous deployment multiple times a day, with data models changing upstream constantly. The previous legacy solution was unable to handle this scale and agility. Drata needed to stream data from thousands of different databases into their data warehouse with minimal delay.
For a security questionnaire automation use case that required ingesting the latest relevant customer documentation, the previous solution was incapable of handling this in near real-time because it ran as a batch process every six hours. Drata's team needed to consume streams closer to real-time to minimize response times.
Drata's prior solution—although easy to start with—was unable to adapt to today’s AI-driven requirements for real-time data streaming and scale. At the other end of the spectrum, other more complex approaches would require the hiring of a large team to manage, which would be too time-consuming and costly.
Decodable delivers a real-time data platform that helps Drata ensure data is continuously fresh and streamed to the data warehouse at scale. “We’re using Decodable to ingest nearly 2 terabytes of data a day,” said Lior Solomon, VP of Engineering at Drata. “It’s as if a fleet of 480 mail trucks unload their cargo into your warehouse every 24 hours.” Drata is able to confidently build a reliable knowledge base for their customers, streamline compliance processes, and significantly reduce response times. “Real-time, accurate data is crucial for us to operate efficiently. With the integration of PyFlink, we're excited to further enhance our ability to leverage Flink’s powerful stream processing capabilities,” explained Lior.
Drata turned to their security questionnaire automation use case to ensure the latest, most relevant customer documentation is ingested into the pipeline. "We've seen firsthand how Decodable accelerates the development of AI applications. Our engineers swiftly created a prototype in just 12 days, allowing us to expedite the launch of our AI product within two months,” explained Lior.
Looking ahead, Drata is confident that Decodable is the ideal partner to deliver on future AI innovations. “Decodable is very much similar to our state of mind. We're looking for innovation and agility, and someone who will work with us, understand our needs, and come up with quick resolutions,” said Lior. It comes down to the trust that Drata has with Decodable to deliver and get them where we want to be, today and in the future.
Previously, Drata had to gather data from thousands of databases, and load it into their data warehouse, resulting in major time and money. Decodable unifies the data as it's ingested, streaming data pipelines while lowering costs by 20%.
Decodable’s streamlined data ingestion process has led to 15-20% discounts on the sizing of compute clusters—putting them in position to scale as needed.
Decodable has created new opportunities for Drata to innovate with data in real time, leveraging analytics and AI to take action or offer insights and recommendations. Major outages have been eliminated and delays in data synchronization experienced previously are gone.
